The Engineering Physics Group solves problems at the interface of physics and engineering, for DIII-D and other devices, and in fields both inside and outside of fusion. Topics addressed by the group include: design and implementation of control algorithms, plasma modeling and simulation for control analysis/design, MHD physics, evaluation of electromagnetic loads from disruptions and operations, evaluation of error fields, design of correction coils, 3D electromagnetic field analysis, system model development, thermohydraulic analysis, signal processing for communications, data mining, and nonlinear predictor/control algorithms.
